Ms. Pat - my thoughts and prayers are with you during your time of sorrow. Mr. Gene was a very inspirational to alot of us at Georgia Central Railway. We certainly enjoyed working with him and knowing him for many years.

Gene and I first worked for the Seaboard Air Line RR in our early years, he fired Steam Engines and I road on the Engine with him, as a Brakeman. Years later he became a Road Forman of Engines and for the RR and I was elected Gen. Chairman of the Order of Railway Conductors & Brakemen; so although we followed different pathes to Official Positions, we still were Friends, remembering the OLD Hand Fired Steam Engines! We also lived near each other in Tampa, until he left for Savannah. - God Rest His Soul...He was a Jesus loving man and every one respected Him!
